French Michelin tour day 1: casual eats
We took the Eurostar from the Waterloo Station in London to Gare du Nord in Paris in the morning, making it my first experience on the train. Pretty convenient.
We're staying at Hôtel d'Angleterre Champs-Elysées again, my go-to hotel in Paris on rue de la Boétie right off the Champs-Elysées. Grabbed a quick lunch at a touristy spot on the Champs, then began our sightseeing for the day.
First stop was the Musée Rodin, with many sculptures inside the beautiful building. The gardens were also very beautiful, especially on a sunny day like this.
The main attraction for me, besides the obvious Le Penseur a.k.a. the Constipated Guy, was La Porte d'Enfer. I had seen the original plaster cast a few years ago in the Musée d'Orsay, but now this was the bronze. Really happy to have come here.
Next stop was Les Invalides, or more specifically, L'Eglise du Dôme. The gleaming gold of the dome is always instantly recognizable, and now I finally had the chance to go inside.
We have the Tombeau de Napoléon inside, which was really impressive. The remains of the emperor were transferred here.
We tried to get our hot chocolate fix at Angelina, but unfortunately it was closed as today is Sunday. So we went to the InterContinental Paris on rue de Rivoli for a simple dinner.
