Catching up over dim sum

Many of us have been traveling this year for the first time since the pandemic started, and that means we haven't seen each other for a few months. I was happy to see Mrs White T-shirt after quite a while, and finally had a chance to catch up with the RCs after their 5-month globe-trotting adventures. Dim sum at Seventh Son (家全七福) is something that all of us have been missing for a while.

Pan-fried radish cake with cured meat (香煎蘿蔔糕) - these were pretty moist, and perhaps a little too wet?

Steamed rice rolls with minced beef (爽滑牛肉腸) - slurp.

Marinated jellyfish with spring onions oil (舟山海蜇) - thick cut. Nice texture.

Steamed dumplings with minced pork and shrimp (鳳城蒸粉粿)

Steamed prawn dumplings (七福鮮蝦餃) - the wrappers weren't as good as they used to be, and maybe slightly over-steamed.

Fried wontons with crab and chives (蟹肉韮菜盒)

Deep fried prawn and chicken spring rolls (雞絲蝦春卷) - somehow I felt these were a little sub-par, too.

Steamed beef tripe with ginger and scallions (薑蔥牛柏葉) - the kitchen didn't do their job of chopping these up, and we got really big pieces that no one could reasonably chew on. Had to get one of the staff to cut these up with scissors.

Steamed chicken feet in black bean sauce (豉汁蒸鳳爪)

Steamed beef siu mai (干蒸牛肉)

Tofu skin rolls in satay sauce (沙爹銀絲卷) - really nice with glass vermicelli (粉絲) and shredded shiitake mushrooms inside.

Roasted crispy goose (脆皮燒鵝) - very nice. Wonderfully thin and crispy skin.

Deep-fried whitebait (椒鹽白飯魚) - so happy that I wasn't the only one who wanted to order this. I could easily eat 2 plates of this myself.

Steamed pork siu mai with crab roe (蟹皇蒸燒賣) - the shrimps inside were very crunchy.

Coconut milk jelly (鮮奶椰汁糕)

Jujube millefeuille (鴛鴦棗蓉糕) - always one of my favorites... so I did not share my piece with anyone.

Really happy to have caught up with friends over lunch, and some of us ended up taking an excursion up to the Peak for an afternoon drink in the breeze on a beautiful day.
