It's my last day in Bangkok, and I'm too lazy to go grab breakfast this morning... especially since I'm having an early lunch. I decided to finish eating all the Thai mandarins (ส้มเขียวหวาน) I bought yesterday. But DAMN! Why do they have so many seeds?!
I checked out of my hotel and got picked up by my friend, who was taking me on a trip down memory lane. When the Parental Units lived here in the late 80s, I spent my summer and winter holidays here with them, and on many days I would come to RBSC Polo Club for lunch. My friend happens to be a member and enjoys dining here, so she was kind enough to treat me to a simple lunch. The weather was just too hot today to be hanging out by the pool, so we opted for the more comfortable surroundings of the Air Bar.
In lieu of the usual larb moo (ลาบหมู) with steamed rice, I decided to get fried spicy minced pork larb (ลาบหมูทอด) as suggested by my friend. Pretty good, but not as tasty as what I had a couple of days ago.
I decided to have some more Sukhothai noodles (ก๋วยเตี๋ยวสุโขทัย), but here the noodles came badly stuck together. The char siu was OK but the fried pork belly was damn tasty!
Fried chicken wings with salt and pepper (ปีกไก่ทอดพริกเกลือ) - these were pretty good.
I was disappointed that they didn't have watermelon juice, as that was what I always drank in those days, so I made do with the Thai orange juice (น้ำส้มคั้น).
I was very grateful to my friend for the treat, and for taking me back to Polo Club. Time to head off to the airport and get home to Hong Kong...
